We collect information you provide when you register, verify your email, post jobs, build a tradesperson or apprentice profile or mini-site, create a professional workspace profile (for example medical, legal, teacher / tutor), quote or respond to enquiries, message, leave reviews, manage a subscription, list or browse Marketplace items, connect a third-party marketplace account (such as eBay), or contact support. This can include name, email, phone, location, business or practice details, job content, listing titles and descriptions, photos you upload, message content, and account activity.
We also collect technical data such as IP address, browser/device information, and security logs (for example rate-limit and login attempts).
For tradespeople and apprentices (and other paid professional accounts) on a free trial or paid plan, we store trial dates, plan tier (for example Apprentice, Trade, Pro, Elite, Small Business; Solo / Practice or Solo tutor / Studio where applicable), billing status, and PayPal subscription identifiers (not your full card number).
For public tradesperson mini-sites (/t/…) and professional presence pages (for example medical /m/…, legal /l/…, teachers /e/…), we may count anonymous page visits so the account holder can see interest in their listing. We store only daily unique counts and a short-lived hash used to avoid double-counting the same browser on the same day. We do not show who visited, and we do not store visitor IPs or user-agents in clear text for this feature.
Marketplace. When you use Marketplace we may process listing content (title, description, category, location, price or “free”, photos), interest/messages about listings, view counts, listing status (for example active, pending review, withdrawn, sold/gone, removed), and moderation outcomes (including rejection reasons where applicable).
eBay connection (optional). If you choose to connect an eBay seller account to import listings, we process OAuth tokens and related credentials needed to call eBay APIs on your behalf, eBay account identifiers (for example username or user id where provided), and listing data you authorise us to retrieve (for example item ids, titles, descriptions, prices, images, listing type, and view URLs). We only access eBay data after you grant permission through eBay’s sign-in / consent screens.
We use personal data to:
Marketplace is atthejobs.com’s classifieds product for goods (sale at a fixed asking price, or free giveaway). It is separate from the trades job board. There is no auction or bidding on Marketplace. atthejobs.com does not charge commission on Marketplace sales and does not process, hold, or escrow money between buyers and sellers.
Payment for Marketplace items is arranged directly between users outside atthejobs.com (for example cash, bank transfer, or other methods they agree). We do not receive Marketplace purchase payments and are not a payment service for those deals.
Connecting eBay (optional). Sellers may link an eBay account using eBay’s official OAuth / sign-in process so we can retrieve active listings they select to import into Marketplace. By connecting eBay you instruct us to:
eBay remains an independent platform. Your use of eBay is governed by eBay’s own terms and privacy policy. We do not operate eBay, do not control eBay’s fees or policies, and do not transfer money to or from eBay on your behalf for Marketplace imports.
Auctions imported from eBay. Marketplace has no bidding. Where an eBay listing is or was an auction, we may still import it as a static fixed asking price (for example using buy-it-now, current, or start price as supplied by eBay’s APIs). That price is not an ongoing live eBay auction on atthejobs.com.
What we do not do with eBay data. We do not sell your eBay personal data, use eBay-connected data to build advertising profiles for third-party ads, or share your eBay tokens with other users. Tokens are stored securely for your account so import and reconnection can work until you disconnect or we delete them.
Your controls. You may disconnect eBay from Marketplace (where the product provides that control), withdraw or delete Marketplace listings you own (including declined / removed listings where the product allows permanent delete), and stop importing further items. Closing or deleting your atthejobs.com account is handled under our normal account deletion process.
eBay marketplace account deletion / closure. If eBay notifies us that an eBay user has requested deletion or closure of their eBay account (Marketplace Account Deletion notifications), we process that notice to remove or de-link eBay-related personal data we hold for that eBay identity — including OAuth tokens and eBay item linkage fields on Marketplace listings — so far as we can match the notification to records on our systems. Marketplace listing copy that was imported may remain as your atthejobs.com content until you delete it, unless we are required or choose to remove it further. We may keep a short technical log of deletion notifications (notification id, identifiers supplied by eBay, and processing outcome) for compliance and abuse prevention.
Messages on Marketplace. Interest or enquiry messages about listings are user-to-user communications on atthejobs.com. Treat them as semi-public between the parties; do not send passwords or payment secrets in chat.
Tradesperson monthly subscriptions are processed by PayPal. When you subscribe, you are directed to PayPal to approve payment. PayPal is an independent payment provider and processes payment data under its own privacy policy and terms.
We receive limited billing information from PayPal (for example subscription ID, status, plan/tier, and next billing time). We do not store your full card or bank account numbers.
Job payments between customers and tradespeople, professional fees, and Marketplace item payments are arranged directly between users and are not processed, held, or escrowed by atthejobs.com.
We may use automated filters and AI-assisted tools (currently xAI / Grok) in these limited ways:
AI systems may auto-approve low-risk content, flag items for human (second) review, or recommend rejection. Human staff may override any automated decision. We do not use this process to sell advertising based on your content. Local keyword filters (for example wrong-door medical/legal scans, or service-hire wording on Marketplace) may run on our servers without sending data to an AI provider.
We do not sell your personal data.
We use essential cookies and similar storage to keep you logged in, remember preferences, and operate security features (including OAuth return state when connecting eBay). On public marketing pages we may also use Google Analytics if you choose Accept analytics on the cookie banner; we do not load that analytics tooling for Essential-only choices. We keep account and transaction-related records for as long as needed to run the service, meet legal and accounting obligations, and resolve disputes. Marketplace listings and messages are kept while your account is active and the listing remains on the system, and may be retained for a period after withdrawal or sale for integrity, dispute, and abuse prevention, unless you delete them where the product allows or we are required to erase sooner.
eBay OAuth tokens are kept while the connection is active. We delete or invalidate them when you disconnect, when tokens expire and cannot be refreshed, when we process an eBay marketplace account deletion notice matched to your eBay identity, or when you delete your atthejobs.com account (subject to legal retention needs).
You may request deletion of your account; some records may need to be retained where the law requires.
Subject to applicable data protection law (England and Wales), you can request access, correction, or deletion of your personal data, and raise questions about how we process it — including Marketplace and eBay-linked data we hold. Contact support@atthejobs.com.
